The Administrator's Bonus Club Rules and Guidelines for Membership Every spring, when the ICS Administrator signs student yearbooks, he introduces a new Bible verse containing a key principle for the Christian life. These verses hold valuable secrets for spiritual formation, growing strong in the Lord, and being prepared for success and prosperity by God’s standard. Key principles include: the Wellspring of Life, the Mirror of Truth, the Root of Prosperity, the Key to Transformation, the Power of Companionship, the Rock of Stability, the Path of Freedom and more. Each year the Bonus Verse provides the ICS theme for the new school year. The verse is posted on the ICS website with a summary of the theme, an interpretation of the verse’s meaning and an application for life. For the entire year special focus is given to the new verse and the key principle it reveals. Parents are encouraged to look for ways to reinforce and apply these key principles at home. In order to join the Bonus Club each year, students are challenged to memorize the verse word-perfectly and think about what it means. They must come to the Administrator’s office (they can bring a friend) and recite the verse and reference with no errors and give their interpretation of what it means. The interpretation does not have to be perfect, but the student has to try. Anyone who says the Bonus Verse and its meaning receives a small reward (the newest Bonus Club wristband) and becomes a lifetime member of the Administrator’s Bonus Club. The school keeps a list of all those who join the club each year by learning the new verse. The lifetime membership means that once students are in the club, the Administrator can ask them at any time in the future whether they remember the Bonus Verse. If they can say it and give its interpretation, they win another reward. By learning the new verse each year, students greatly multiply their chances for winning additional rewards. But this is not limited to their time of enrollment at ICS. Even if they are in high school or college or beyond and come back to visit, the Administrator can ask if they remember the Bonus Verse from a previous year and what it means, and they can win another reward. The word “Bonus” comes from the Latin word for “good.” We believe the Bonus Verse is good because it teaches students to live with a passage of scripture over a long period of time and to meditate more deeply on its meaning. It prepares students for running the race, following the straight path, and always taking the next step in the journey God has for them. Psalm One says that the person who meditates daily on God’s Word will be like a tree deeply rooted by a stream of water, nourished against drought and storm, fruitful in season, and prosperous in all he does. Some students will memorize the Bonus Verse each year and some will not. But it is our prayer that all our students will treasure God’s Word in their heart, put it into action, and gain the real rewards from the real Bonus Club – for life. |
