The cost of educating our students is not covered by tuition alone. We trust God every year to provide for this ministry through gifts.  The annual Partnership Fund is designed to communicate our fund-raising need to parents and friends in order to support the school financially through annual, unrestricted operating funds.  These gifts are tax deductible and are often matched by employers and corporations through matching gift programs.

Partnership Fund  (cont.)

The Partnership Fund provides needed annual revenue to bridge the gap between tuition and education costs by supporting the mission-critical expenses. This fund is comprised largely from donations received from Serve-A-Thon, the Partnership Builders Breakfast and other unrestricted gifts. Gifts of all amounts, both large and small, will continue to provide the opportunity for our talented students to Explore the Truth with their Head, Heart and Hands.

Immanuel Bible Church also significantly underwrites the school ministry through the provision of classroom and office space, utilities and custodial support.  Without this help and the gifts from parents and friends, tuition rates would be much higher.  While tuition provides for the salaries and benefits of all ICS employees, there is a gap between the funds that tuition provides and the actual cost to educate each student.

A few of the programs supported by contributions made to the Partnership Fund are:

  • Academic, Athletic & Fine Arts Programs
  • Employee Salary Enhancements & Professional Development
  • Discovery Center & Enrichment Programs
  • Designated Giving for Program Enhancements
  • Classroom furnishing and supplies
  • Curriculum, library, and instructional resources

Will you consider a significant gift to the Partnership Fund in your stewardship planning this year?  Your gift may also be doubled if your employer has a matching gift program! Please see your Human Resources Department today.

Thank you for prayerfully considering your investment!

Next Generation Technology Fund  (cont.)

Last summer was full of excitement as ICS prepared for the technology phase of the Next Generation Learning Strategic Plan.  As more than $130,000 in donor gifts came in, orders for equipping interactive classrooms went out.  The computer lab became a mini warehouse for interactive boards, projectors, audio systems and laptops.

Students and teachers became familiar with the interactive board last spring when one was installed in the computer lab for the entire school to share.  Time for each class was limited, but not for long.  Thanks to donations, every classroom has been equipped.  The first interactive classroom was piloted by Middle School Science teacher, Miss Beth Brown.  As her sole instructional mode, Miss Brown used on-screen lessons to present parts of plant and animal cells, found Internet resources to show detailed photos and posted daily homework assignments using screen capture.

Another aspect of Next Generation Technology is the “Laptops for Teachers” program.  Each full-time teacher and several of the special subject teachers received new laptops that link with the interactive boards.  The ability to carry laptops between classes, as well as the convenience of taking them home, allows teachers to explore Internet resources and immediately build them into lessons.

“Having a laptop enables me to keep students’ records, lesson plans, write email and work on Activboard projects when and where it is most convenient.  I am able to sit down with my own children and work along side them in the evenings or have the freedom to work while another child is on our own home computer.  This laptop is a gift in so many ways.” - Mrs. Tammy Shondelmyer, K-PM Teacher

Below are just a few of the programs that contributions made to The Next Generation Technology Fund go toward:

  • Document Cameras for Classrooms
  • Online Instructional Resources
  • 20 Laptops for Mobile Lab #1
  • 26 Laptops plus hardware for Mobile Lab #2

McNally Fund (cont.)

The McNally Fund for Christian Character In Action represents the resources temporarily restricted to focus our attention upon the singular goal of Christian character education.  That goal is the imitation of Jesus Christ Himself.  It is to move us from hearer to doer, to move us from merely hearing the words that Christ spoke to doing what Christ taught us to do.

Dan McNally served as the Assistant Administrator at Immanuel Christian School from 1997-2005.  He died in June  of 2005 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.  Throughout Dan’s life, he was firm in his conviction that attention should never be placed upon himself or any other human individual, but rather upon Christ, the Divine object of our faith and practice.  Yet even as the Apostle Paul said, “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ,” (1 Corinthians 11:1) it is appropriate that we use the McNally Fund to lift up and honor the name of Jesus Christ as exemplified in the life of Dan McNally.  It is a fitting recognition of our goal as a Christian school and of Mr. McNally’s legacy to future generations of Immanuel Christian School students.  The McNally Fund is designed to provide scholarships for ICS graduates for programs and training that promote Christian character in action.

Any current high school or college student who has graduated from the 8th grade at ICS may apply for these scholarships.   Programs eligible for funding include summer missions trips, inner city ministry projects, local church ministry internships, and biblical training and leadership programs such as Summit Ministries conferences.  Pending funding availability, applicants for scholarships through the McNally Fund are granted up to $50 for leadership/service projects that occur in the contiguous United States or up to $100 for Service/Leadership projects that are located outside of the United States.   Interested individuals should contact the school office to obtain an application for this scholarship.

Financial Assistance Fund  (cont.)

The Financial Assistance Fund is a resource offered by the School Board of Immanuel Christian School to assist parents who demonstrate a genuine financial need in the pursuit of Christian schooling for their children. The program reflects the deep conviction of ICS that Christian education should be available to all children from Christian families, and not solely those from families who can financially afford tuition. Tuition assistance is awarded strictly on the basis of need in a completely confidential process. Immanuel Christian School does not award any athletic or academic merit scholarships.

Immanuel Christian School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in its administration of financial aid, admissions, or school policies.
